Management

ATP is an ambitious project that presents management challenges in addition to research and innovation. The consortium and the Project Coordination have chosen an experienced Project Management Team that cooperates tightly with the Project Steering Committee to streamline and organise the work of the RTD partners. An external Advisory Board supports the Project Steering Committee.

Steering Committee

The Scientific Steering Committee includes all of the WP leaders. They were selected to ensure a balance of disciplines (science and policy expertise), geographical locations, Arctic expertise and management expertise of successful large-scale collaborative projects.  In cooperation with the Project Office and Project Management Team the SC has the over-all responsibility for making formal planning decisions about the work programme and setting the priorities.

Technical Committee of WP and Task leaders

WP and Task leaders have been appointed for every WP. The WP leader will have the responsibility to ensure that the objectives and deadlines of the work packages are met, and that input from their work packages required to complete other work packages are delivered in an efficient and timely manner. These leaders have the reporting responsibility to the SC. Partners involved in a WP will coordinate the specific needs of the work packages at the 4 joint meetings.

Advisory board

The Advisory Board consist of technical and political stakeholders in the Arctic, including social groups, Arctic tourism businesses, oil and gas businesses and important scientific and international environmental stakeholders .The Advisory Board will give advise on the contents and formats of project results that best addresses the interests of diverse stakeholders. It advises the Scientific steering Committee on policy aspects of the work programme and discusses with the Management Team policy priorities, requirements and linkage to relevant initiatives. The Advisory Board will also act as an independent panel to ensure the quality of work and focus the ATP project.

Members of the Advisory Board (representative in brackets):

Committee of early career women peer mentoring

ATP establishes a peer mentoring system for early-career mentoring for female scientists. Each female participant can request honest, fair and constructive scientific/personal judgement, input and critique. Senior women scientists in ATP will provide positive role models and help advance women’s careers. During this mentoring, communication and exchange in an informal environment will foster personal discussions, in particular about career building and individual progress at the post doc level and beyond. The peer-mentoring consortium promotes the development of specific skills required to excel in a scientific environment.
